The coalition of Concerned Citizens of Detroit

Here at Revin’Up Detroit, we’re always trying to let people know what Detroit is all about and what “fuels” the severely battered city. In this particular case it is the courage to speak and to come together when times are at their worst.

Free Detroit No Consent is a coalition of concerned citizens from Detroit whom are rallied against the loss of voice and services for Detroiters. We desire transparency in our government. We demand the right to participate in government as offered through the US Constitution, its amendments, the Michigan Constitution, and the City of Detroit Home Rule Charter.”

That’s how the FDNC describe themselves! You can tell , simply by watching their videos how passionate the citizens of Detroit are!

Art where you least expect it!

The Heidelberg Project is a unique platform for artists, creative minds or just ordinary citizens of Detroit. Its “rainbow-like” painted houses and “shopping-cart” decorated trees are only a few of the organizations many creative ideas!

“It’s an open-air art environment in the heart of an urban community on Detroit’s East Side. Tyree Guyton, founder and artistic director, uses everyday, discarded objects to create a two block area full of color, symbolism, and intrigue. Now in its 28th year, the Heidelberg Project is recognized around the world as a demonstration of the power of creativity to transform lives.”

2015 Chrysler 200: A serious competitor?

Chrysler has just revealed its newest version of the 200 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The original 200 was introduced as a replacement for the outgoing Chrysler Sebring and was supposed to make up for Chrysler’s battered reputation! The all new 2015 Chrysler 200 though, is more than an apology for years of no reliability, plasticy interior and unhappy customers. It is beautifully designed and one of the few modern day Chryslers you might actually want to buy.

“The 2015 Chrysler 200 debuts a beautiful exterior design featuring the new “face” of the Chrysler brand – a thoughtful, exquisitely crafted interior and an exceptional driving experience, complements of a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission and an Alfa Romeo-based chassis. With the choice of two world-class engines, an innovative all-wheel-drive system, available sport mode and paddle shifters for an engaged driving experience, and estimated highway fuel economy of 35 miles per gallon (mpg), the all-new Chrysler 200 makes the commute something drivers will look forward to.”

  • 2015 Chrysler 200 is the industry’s first mid-size sedan with a standard nine-speed automatic transmission, which enables expected highway fuel economy ratings of 35 miles-per-gallon

  • The Chrysler 200 sedan’s innovative available all-wheel-drive system is the first to deliver an automatic fully disconnecting rear axle, improving fuel economy by reducing parasitic loss when all-wheel drive is not needed

  • Choice of two world-class engines are available: the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine produces a best-in-class 295 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, or the standard 2.4-liter MultiAir®2 Tigershark I-4 engine produces 184 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque

  • The all-new 200 features state-of-the-art electronic shifting with rotary dial

  • An inventive center console offers pass-through storage space for driver and passengers, covered charging station and sliding cupholders for even more storage space when needed

  • 2015 Chrysler 200 offers the most available safety and security features in the segment with more than 60

  • All-new 2015 Chrysler 200 delivers an array of easy-to-use, state-of-the-art advanced technology to keep drivers connected and informed yet focused on the road

  • World Class Manufacturing principles and a new, updated assembly plant set the table for a world-class vehicle – the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200

  • All-new paint and body shops and improvements in the assembly process enable precision-built vehicles and reduce the energy required to build the 2015 Chrysler 200 by 62 percent compared with the outgoing model

  • The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 has a starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $21,700 (excluding $995 destination)

Get ready for the best looking lineup Cadillac ever offered!

-Cadillac ATS

-Cadillac CTS These two sport sedans are GM’s response to the BMW 3 and 5 series, which have been dominating the luxury market for decades and Cadillac has made one thing very clear, there are no more excuses, they’re now competing with the bestof the best and we certainly liked what we saw! No more cheap looking interior, bad steering, lack of space or unfirm suspension. Cadillac has arrived in the luxury segment and they have brought two of their best!

-Cadillac ELR Finally Cadillac has rethought its bad fuel effiency and put the spotlight on “future vehicles”, after the Chevrolet Volt, here it is, the Cadillac ELR. Beautifully shaped, well engineered and certainly a competitor for the electric vehicles in the luxury segment, like the BMW i3 and the Audi eTron

-Cadillac SRX Beautiful, affordable Crossover, with enough space for 5 people and still no shortage of trunkspace or space in the back!

-Cadillac Elmiraj Probably one of the most provocative designs of the exhebition. It’s longer, wider and more aggressive-looking than any of its competitors. The Elmiraj is a sports coupe, but unfortunately still a concept.

It’s mean, lean, fast and most importantly it is GM’s newest attempt to keep up with the big sports cars. “Corvette has achieved dream-car status among generations of automotive enthusiasts around the world. The all-new Stingray is a statement of intent by drivers who want the pure exhilaration that’s tantamount with the name Corvette,”said Dr. Thomas Sedran, President and Managing Director, Chevrolet Europe.

It really is a good looking piece of engineering, but it’ll take a while to figure out if GM has really changed its position on quality, fuel effiency and customer satisfaction.

The annual Frankfurt Motor Show is the place to go, if you’re interested in the latest developments and innovations of the international auto market. The show occupies 12 buildings and therefore the FMS is the largest exhibition of its kind. I decided to hit the “Messegelaende” in Frankfurt am Main in search for the big three from Detroit. General Motors, Ford and Chrysler. Unfortunately Chrysler decided not to show up at this year’s show. So we solely focussed on Chevrolet, Ford and Cadillac.
